Bright - Easter Fly-in 2005
This year all the events by Skyhigh club seemed to be blessed by the weather gods. The Easter Fly-in wasn't any exception. 3 days out of 4 flyable, Monday being the highlight. Saturday wasn't much worse, with a lot of people landing at Harrietville - some of them for the first time. What a holiday!
The event has been organized by the Skyhigh club with the bulk of the burden put on the shoulders of Barb and Simon. As usual, the new pilots were allocated to a couple of old hands who helped them thru the three busy days of flying. Despite of quite rough air on Sat and Sun, there were no serious incidents. There were only a few interesting takeoffs and collapses, all sorted out well before the deck came too close. Let's hope it will always be like this. Most of the interesting parts were captured on video by Malcolm, who has done a lot of work for our club already - no doubts to avoid the deadly Aviation Induced Divorce Syndrome hanging over his head in the hands of Juli, the APN editor.
Big Geoff organized the second year of Paragliding Videos Night which was - again - a huge success. There are many hidden talents in our numbers. The Spot Landing competition on Monday was fun and a show of skills as well. A sad day for the male part of the club though: the overall winner was Antje, with an absolutely perfect landing in the very centre. Guys, start practicing for next year!
